The "NEWLove" Worm, which is a little bit more complex,
still transfers itself the same way as the original "LoveWorm."
Differences to note are:
1. The SUBJECT varies, but (for this worm) ALWAYS begins "FW:";
2. This worm *IS* DEADLY; that is, it WILL delete files
essential to the operation of your system! You WILL have to reload or
reinstall your system software!
3. The "attached" file name changes, but will always end with ".vbs"
Note that the same rules and mechanisms that work with the original
WILL work with "NEWLove."
Please check here for further updates and new information!

SCAM ALERT -- It has come to our attention that a clever scam is being perpetrated over the Internet. Also known for being sent through pagers and voice mail messages, the scam works something like this:
You will be informed that you have "24 hours" to settle an outstanding account. If you do not, "legal proceedings" will be commenced against you. You will be given a name and a phone number to contact in order to discuss the matter to avoid court action. One of the e-mails going around names a specific person at an important sounding international company with a very suspicious looking phone number... +1 809 nnn nnnn. The pager variant simply has the unexpected number, alphanumeric pagers including some comment like the above insinuating its importance.
This particular phone number we've found to be Puerto Rican, and as such, for US Residents, does not contain any 'country code' -- it simply looks like a long distance number...the dialing of which has the side effect of charging anything from $25 to perhaps hundreds of dollars onto your phone bill. Offshore companies are not required to inform you that you are being billed for your call, nor are they required to give you any time to hang up without being billed. You are charged "per minute" from the time the call connects!
PLEASE, always think these things through. If you do not recognize the name of the company, or the phone number, remember that this kind of scam is becoming more and more prevalent. Take a good look at your phone bills if anything seems amiss -- don't let the scammers get away with it. Suspect unanticipated pages from strange area codes. Keep alert. When in doubt, contact your local telephone company, police department, or other appropriate agency.
We'll have more information for you as we get it. In the meantime, we've made available a copy of our Press Release on this topic, which does contain a few more details. Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional information.
